Michael Vick limped to the huddle and walked gingerly to the line of scrimmage. He may have been bruised. He may have been battered. But nothing could slow him down once he took the snap.

Vick threw for 302 yards and accounted for three touchdowns, rallying the Philadelphia Eagles to a 34-24 victory over the Houston Texans on Thursday night.

A Few Good Men
Michael Vick became one of five QBs since the AFL-NFL merger to have two games with 300 passing yards, two passing TDs and one rushing TD in a single season.

Vick was hurried and harassed throughout the game. But he kept getting up. He kept making big plays despite a slew of jarring hits. He scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 2-yard run, and the Eagles held serve in the race for the NFC East title.

“I’m used to taking hits. It’s not that bad,” Vick said. “If I take one and I lay down, then I took a good one. But I’m a pretty tough guy. I bounce back when I can. There’s no science to getting hit, or protecting yourself.”

It was the first time Vick led the Eagles (8-4) back from a fourth-quarter deficit. They led 14-3 in the first half before falling behind 24-20.

Matt Schaub had 337 yards passing and two scores for the Texans (5-7). Andre Johnson had 149 yards receiving — four days after his hockey-like fight with Tennessee’s Cortland Finnegan.

The NFC East-leading Eagles were coming off their first loss in a game that Vick started and finished. He was 5-0 before a 31-26 loss at Chicago.

Vick continued his remarkable comeback story. He completed 22 of 33 passes for two touchdowns, and had his third 300-yard game. Vick, a three-time Pro Bowl pick in six seasons with Atlanta, only had two 300-yard games coming into this year. He also ran for 48 yards and a score.

“This young man is playing as good as anybody I’ve seen play in the NFL and I’ve been doing it for a while,” Texans coach Gary Kubiak said of Vick. “He’s special and we just tried to contain him, but obviously he still had a big night. He’s been doing it against a lot of people so. … We had a couple of chances for turnovers. He gave us a couple of opportunities that we just didn’t take advantage of.”

After the Texans took their first lead in the third quarter, the Eagles quickly answered. Vick sneaked in from the 2 to put Philadelphia ahead 27-24 early in the fourth. Vick’s 33-yard pass to DeSean Jackson to the Texans 11 set up the score.

Vick drove the Eagles 87 yards on their next possession, and tossed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Owen Schmitt to extend the lead to 34-24. He celebrated with a side leap into coach Andy Reid.

Michael Vick, not Donovan McNabb, played like a $78 million quarterback, accounting for six touchdowns all by himself.

And his Philadelphia Eagles marched down the field in one big chunk after another, doing enough times to put new entries in the various record books.

On a day the Washington Redskins hoped to celebrate McNabb’s new contract and set aside the swirl of distractions from his benching two weeks earlier, Vick and the Eagles stormed the party and thoroughly embarrassed their NFC East rivals 59-28 Monday night.

The Eagles scored on an 88-yard pass from Vick to DeSean Jackson on the first play from scrimmage, led 35-0 after the first play of the second quarter and barely let up.

Vick completed his first 10 passes and finished 20 for 28 for 333 yards with four touchdowns. He also ran eight times for 80 yards and two scores, moving past Steve Young and into second place in NFL history for yards rushing by a quarterback.

The Eagles set team records for total yards in a game (592), points in a half (45) and had the biggest lead after the first quarter for any NFL road team (28-0) since at least 1950Philadelphia Eagles [59-28] Washington Redskins – Recap NFL full highlights

Michael Vick 2, Manning brothers 0.

LeSean McCoy ran 50 yards for a go-ahead score on a fourth-and-1 late in the fourth quarter, and the Philadelphia Eagles rallied to beat the New York Giants 27-17 after blowing a 13-point lead Sunday night.

Vick looked a little more ordinary after a spectacular performance in a 59-28 win over Washington on Monday night, but he led the Eagles (7-3) to a comeback win nonetheless, and into sole possession of first place in the NFC East.

Vick, who accounted for six touchdowns against the Redskins, threw for 258 yards and ran for a score. He outplayed Peyton Manning in a win over Indianapolis two weeks ago, and outdid Eli Manning in this one.

The Giants quarterback threw a pair of touchdown passes to bring New York (6-4) back from a 16-3 deficit. But he lost a fumble after running for a first down on fourth-and-6 with 2:51 left, and the Eagles recovered. Manning scrambled 16 yards and dove headfirst, but the ball came loose when he hit the ground untouched. Darryl Tapp recovered.

The Giants, who had a fumble overturned earlier in the quarter, lost the ensuing challenge.

McCoy took a pitch from Vick, who bobbled the snap, burst through a hole on the left side and sprinted into the end zone to put Philadelphia up 22-16. Vick connected with Jason Avant on the two-point conversion with 4:25 left.

Three plays before Manning’s fumble, Asante Samuel recorded his second interception but fumbled on the return and the Giants recovered. Samuel had two picks against Peyton Manning, as well.

Vick continued his remarkable comeback story, improving to 5-0 in games he’s started and finished this season. Vick missed two full seasons while serving 18 months in federal prison for his role in a dogfighting operation, and played sparingly last season.

Vick missed a month with a rib injury and returned to beat the Colts. He followed that up with perhaps the best all-around performance ever by a quarterback at Washington. Vick became the first player to record 300 yards passing (333), 50 yards rushing (80), four TDs passing and two rushing in the same game.

The Eagles, perhaps a bit rusty after the short week, had a slow start — by their standards. They scored touchdowns on each of their first five possessions against the Redskins last week, and have touchdowns on five opening drives this season.

After a three-and-out on their first series, the Eagles woke up and went ahead 7-0 on Vick’s 4-yard run. Vick threw a 13-yard pass to DeSean Jackson on third-and-9 to keep the drive alive.

His scoring run was vintage Vick. He took the snap, rolled right, made defensive lineman Justin Tuck and linebacker Michael Boley miss, and then outran safety Kenny Phillips to the end zone for his fifth rushing score this season.

McCoy finished with 111 yards rushing, and David Akers kicked four field goals to help the Eagles to their third straight win.

Eagles defensive back Ellis Hobbs left the field on a stretcher with a neck injury after taking a hit to the helmet on the second-half kickoff. He had full movement of all extremities.

It was another scary scene at Lincoln Financial Field as Hobbs was down for 11 minutes. Players from both teams gathered around and the crowd fell silent. There were similar situations in the previous two games in Philadelphia.

Trailing 16-3 midway through the third, the Giants scored on consecutive possessions to take the lead. Manning’s 2-yard touchdown pass to Travis Beckum cut it to 16-10 late in the third. On the previous play, a third-and-14, Manning lofted a deep pass to Mario Manningham that fell incomplete but Quintin Mikell was called for pass interference
