Michael Vick threw his second interception that set up the go-ahead score for the Dallas Cowboys, who led the Philadelphia Eagles 20-17 after the third quarter Sunday night.
Vick was under constant pressure and hit several times even before scrambling and them making a throw that bounced off Jeremy Maclin’s hands to Cowboys linebacker Bradie James. That set up a three-play drive, including a 35-yard screen pass to Felix Jones, who then scored on a 3-yard run for a 20-14 Cowboys lead midway through the third quarter.
David Buehler had gotten the Cowboys within 14-13 with his second field goal, a 43-yarder on the first drive after halftime.
Vick had multiple interceptions in a game for the first time this season. He was also under extreme pressure when he was picked off late in the first half by Gerald Sensabaugh, setting up a 50-yard field goal by Buehler.
Vick was 13 of 21 for 175 yards and a touchdown through three quarters. He had been sacked two times, and hit many more.
Jon Kitna was 17 of 25 for 171 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Cowboys.
The Eagles had a 14-10 halftime lead after Vick ran for a touchdown and threw a short scoring pass offensive lineman Todd Herremans.
David Akers kicked a 39-yard field goal for Philly.
Vick’s 1-yard keeper that capped the opening drive of the game was his seventh rushing touchdown of the season, setting an Eagles record for quarterbacks.
The Eagles regained the lead in the second quarter when Vick threw a 2-yard TD to 321-pound guard-tackle Todd Herremans, who was introduced as an eligible receiver before the third-and-goal play and then caught the pass. It was the lineman’s second career touchdown — he had a 1-yarder at Seattle two years ago.
On the play that led to the two-minute warning, linebacker Anthony Spencer was penalized for roughing the passer because of a hard hit right after Vick had thrown the ball on what was an incompletion.
Two plays later, Vick was picked off by Gerald Sensabaugh and that led to a 50-yard field goal by Buehler with 8 seconds left in the half.
Earlier in the second quarter, coach Andy Reid and others on the Eagles sideline were visibly upset when no flag was thrown against Spencer on another play. Vick scrambled and was running out of bounds when he shoved down by the linebacker.
On the first play of the game, Vick faked a handoff to the right and rolled to the left, where he had plenty of time to set and throw. He hit a streaking DeSean Jackson for a 60-yard gain to the Cowboys 13, then scored five plays later.
After scrambling to hit Chad Hall for 12 yards on third-and-13 from the 16, Philadelphia bypassed a field goal chance and LeSean McCoy went up the middle for 3 yards. Vick scored on the next play, a straight quarterback draw up the middle, and punctuated his score by dunking the ball over the crossbar.
Dallas responded with a 10-play, 77-yard drive that was extended by a costly penalty.
The Cowboys had third-and-6 at their 45 when Kitna threw a pass behind Roy Williams. On the other side of the field, though, cornerback Dimitri Patterson was called for a personal foul for grabbing the facemask of another receiver for an automatic first down.
Miles Austin then had a 26-yard gain on a reverse and Dallas eventually scored when Kitna threw a touchdown to Jason Witten on third-and-goal from the 1.
The Cowboys beat their NFC East rivals three times last season, including consecutive weekends in January — 24-0 in the regular-season finale and 34-14 in the first round of the playoffs when Vick, then playing behind Donovan McNabb, threw a 76-yard TD to Maclin.
Philadelphia, which had a nine-day layoff since playing four games in an 18-day span, came into the game tied with the New York Giants for the NFC East lead. The division leaders play next week in New York
