Philadelphia Eagles Select Jeremy Maclin – Fan Reaction at the Draft Party

I was at the Philadelphia Eagles NFL Draft Party. Here is the crowd reaction when they selected Jeremy Maclin in the1st round. I think everybody was stunned with the pick. Even those being interviewed (former players Ike Reese and Hugh Douglas and current players Omar Gaither and Trevor Laws) seemed stunned. The guy standing next to me was and soon as I shut the camera off, he started booing and cursing.

Most people had come with the hope of drafting Knowshon Moreno but the Broncos took him at #12. At least the Eagles didn’t draft another offensive lineman or trade out of the first round again. But I also don’t think they needed to trade up to get Maclin.

I was talking to …
I was talking to somebody at the draft party when my friend Jeff nearly knocked me over when the Eagles traded up. I was positive it was Pettigrew and I was thinking “Well, then why are they showing this Maclin guy on the screen?” I have talked to some friends who met Maclin at a few Eagles events and they said he is very much a friendly and humble guy. Now we just got to get him into camp, hopefully before I go up to Lehigh next week! GO EAGLES!!

Dude I was shocked …
Dude I was shocked too. When they traded up I thought for SURE it was for Brandon Pettigrew. I didn’t even see this one coming. I mean I’m happy now and think he will do well on our offense, but at the time I kinda just didn’t know what to think! But ya know, I am glad of one thing….that we DIDN’T get K-Moreno: he’s got an ego, at least I appreciate J-Mac’s low key personality.

I saw Mike Cox in February and as of that time, he was still with the team. I don’t know what will happen with a new coaching staff and players.

thats cool man and yea i am. its been a rough couple years for our guys and players and it sucks bc were some of the most loyal fans in the nfl but who knows maybe with all those new players we got, we can turn it around. payin 60 somethin millon to cassel is kinda crazy tho. i hope hes the answer. and yeah we did have him and he was pretty good for us. i dunno if hes still with the team tho

You a Chiefs fan? You guys got a fullback named Mike Cox, he was a rookie last year. I am friends with him. His grandfather was my college boxing coach and I knew Mike since he was 9 years old. I saw him for the first time in over 10 years this past February.

yeah he def wont disappoint you guys. saw maclin play alot over the last couple years and its hard to translate from college to the nfl but he has the skills to be a huge playmaker and bein in philly is the perfect situation. besides my chiefs couldnt of asked for a better team like that. alot better than the raiders haha cant wait for the season to start!!

I was shocked when …
I was shocked when they picked Maclin maybe because I got so used to the Eagles either trading down or taking a lineman. But after watching some films and highlights, I became impressed and even more so after watching him in minicamp. I have my date set to go to the Eagles training camp in 2 weeks and I am excited to see his skills up close.

This kid is the real deal. Can you say D MAC to J MAC touchdown eagles!! For you that booed you dont know what your gettin. J Mac can flat out play and is an exiciting player to watch. As a mizzou fan we were lucky enough to see him play the last 2 years. Take care of our boy! and good luck. We’ll miss you #9

yeah 10Den, Maclin …
yeah 10Den, Maclin was unexpected since everyone wanted either knowshawn moreno or brandon pettigrew. though it was more expected to get a big RB to plow the line or catch the ball and block, or a TE that can block and catch rather than getting a fast WR, getting Maclin is probably the best option since his speed for deep and intermediate routes will open up everything for the running games and for TE’s to catch. as long as the eagles will win, GO EAGLES

I think you are …
I think you are right. I think there was shock at drafting Maclin because he wasn’t discussed on the Eagles radar because nobody in the world thought he would fall to 19. I have a friend who attends a lot of Eagles practices and PR events and he sent out an email the other day stating that he was extremely impressed with Maclin both as a player and as a person. I am looking forward to seeing his suit up for the Eagles for years to come!!!!

For the dude around you who was openly pissed…I hope he readily admits to being a douche when he sees the kind of talent you guys got in Maclin. He’s crazy fast and is an incredible talent. You guys really got yourself a solid guy. I’m a big Mizzou fan who was lucky enough to get to watch him the past couple of years. Congrats.
