I am aware that there are dozens of bike manufacturers out there. How do I know which one is the best option for an 8 year old just starting out? All I know is that he needs a 20" bike, and that I would prefer a lighter frame for him to handle. We are looking for something that he can easily get about two years out of. A used BMX race bike would be ideal as we are just starting out. If anyone could steer me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
I’ve been racing BMX for 8 years.
Redlines are good starting bikes, especially for a young rider. 8 year olds usually start on a junior sized frame, but it depends on the size of your rider. Make sure to measure your riders inseam before you go bike shopping, it can make it easier to find a good fit. Definitely look into Redline. Free Agent also makes light, smaller racing bikes.
